The majority of the world is waiting for the return of the reformer of the latter days. I believe that Jesus has died but the Messiah has come.
There are two certain misconceptions in all faiths and religions nowadays; the concept of Jesus’s crucifixion and the foretold coming of the Promised Messiah, the Imam and Mahdi.
First, let us focus on Jesus passing away. There are lots of different and varied doctrines and beliefs on this question. On the one hand, is the Christian belief that Jesus died on the cross for the sins of the Christians then ascended to Heaven. On the other hand, many Muslims believe that he did not pass away on the cross and that someone took his place. They also believe that he ascended to the heavens and is still alive there waiting to return. We Ahmadi Muslims believe that he did not die on the cross but survived the incident and then migrated to India where he passed away at the age of 120. We can prove this narrative because of the following reasons.
Firstly, Jesus was taken down from the cross too early as the next day was Sabbath when the Jews would not execute anyone. It would have been a grave sin for someone to be left on the cross on the Sabbath day. The normal time for a man to pass away on the cross was a few days. Another proof that Jesus survived is that in the Bible in John 19:32-34 when one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side, blood and water came gushing out, a sign that he was still alive.
After Jesus passed away after living a long life at the age of 120 it was prophesied in major religions that Jesus will return in his second coming. Since we believe that Jesus passed away, it can only mean that someone else will return in his name. Ahmadi Muslims have recognised that this person was none other than Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian. We believe that he is the Messiah whose advent was prophesised and his claim was supported with countless signs of truth. Many religions have prophesised the coming of the reformer, for instance Buddhists believe in the second coming of the Buddha, the Christians: Jesus and the Hindus: Krishna.
In conclusion Jesus has passed away and the reformer who was to appear in the latter days has arrived, who is none other than Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian (peace be upon him).
